Dogsled
Ole Jørgen Hammeken, Peary Centenary Expedition
Greenlandic Ole Jørgen Hammeken plans to commemorate Peary’s Centenary to the North Pole with a team of Inuits and dogsleds. They plan to start from Cape Colombia in March and hope to reach the North Pole April 6.

Eric Larsen - three poles
American Eric Larsen will try to reach the three poles within just one year in 2009-10.
This feat has never been completed in one year.
To date, only 15 people (no Americans) in history have been to all three ‘poles’. Eric will start with Everest in the Spring of 2009, then ski to the South Pole (2009-10) and then to the North Pole in 2010.

Italian Michele Pontrandolfo will attempt a solo, unsupported expedition to the 1996 Magnetic North Pole at co-ordinates 78° 35'42.00"N, 104° 11'54.00"W. In March his expedition will start from Resolute Bay on Cornwallis Island in Nunavut, Canada. He plans to cover a distance of 600 km.

Northern Scandinavian ski traverse
Kim Senger, who was one of the Frozen Five team members in the 2007 Svalbard double-crossing, plans an estimated 650 km ski traverse across northern Norway and Finland from Kirkenes to Storfjord near Tromso. During February and March 2009 Belgium adventurer, Hogan Beernaert (50), will attempt a solo crossing of Lake Baikal in Russia, starting from Koultouk in the south, and sledge-haul to Nyangsgarsk in the north; according to him a distance of 636 km.

Baffin Island – Baffin Babes
Swedish, Vera Simonsson and Emma Simonsson, and Ingebjørg Tollefsen and Kristin Folsland Olsen from Norway, will attempt a sledge-hauling ski expedition on Baffin Island. They plan to start early March 2009 and want to cover approximately 1400 km in 80 days. Their route starts from Qikiqtarjuaq via Clyde River, where they will pick up a resupply; then they will ski further to Pond Inlet.

Emirates NBD Greenland Atlantic to Arctic 2009
Devon McDiarmid (Canada), Adrian Hayes (UK/UAE) and Derek Crowe (Canada) will attempt a kite-ski expedition from Narsaq in the South on the Atlantic Ocean to the JP Kocks Fjord in the North on the Artic Ocean and subsequently Qaanaaq in NW Greenland – a 3500 km journey with no resupplies. Fuchs Foundation science teachers
In May Carl Alvey and Carolyn Bailey will be leading a team of four British teachers, Helena Nunan, Nicola Rowland, Danny Golding and Andy Stevenson, across Greenland as part of the Fuchs Foundation's second science expedition to the Polar Regions.
