    Vicaar
Arctic Russia The Borneo icy runway was first built in 1960 by Khatanga Air and has been traditionally used for temporary scientific bases established on the drifting ice near the Pole. In 1970, Vicaar began to work together with Khatanga Air to outfit scientific expeditions in the high Arctic. In 1992, the first commercial flight to the Pole was organized by Vicaar. In November 2002, all top management people of the Khatanga Air company were killed in a plane crash, and the task to build the Borneo base went to Center Polius – the expedition’s department of the “Association of Polarmen” of Russia with its President Artur Chilingarov.

Center Polius established Russia’s first drifting station, ‘North Pole-32,’ in April 2003, and is the only Russian company licensed to build and use the icy runway on Borneo. Vicaar (including polar skier veteran Victor Boyarsky) organizes logistics for the different programs, such as skiing expeditions, sports events, scuba dives and ballooning. The travel agent also establishes prices together with International agents and operators.
