The Extremesteps
team is taking part of the Polar Race 2003 and will be racing for the
Wedgewood Blue Ice Trophy this spring. The team consists of Norman Butler, Mike
Krimholtz and Steven East three British adventurers hoping to achieve the
extraordinary. They fly out to Ottawa, Canada from London on April 2 and
will head for Iqualit from there.
Ski towards the Magnetic North Pole
The race will start from
Resolute Bay, Canada and the team will then walk and ski towards the
Magnetic North Pole for about 400 miles. They hope to benefit from their
individual strengths and form a dependable team. When they get to Resolute
Bay they will get adjusted to their equipment and spend a long day out on
ice pulling pulks to practice. The race should last for about 30 days and
the team will write dispatches when out on the ice to share their
experiences and progress.
