North Pole Challenge

April 11, 2003 - The North Pole Challenge team is pulling their sleds closer to the North Pole. Their latest update from last night tells us that they put in another 5 hour pull heading slightly to the east to resist the current drift of the ice. They have not as yet been able to send video and their laptop is proving difficult to charge in the cold.

Written dispatches so far

So until they can send pictures the dispatches will continue to come in writing instead. Their current position is N 89 03 16.7 and E 114 38 16.9. The journey to the Pole from their starting point is around 130 km which is a little shorter than originally planned. The decision to shorten the distance was made since there were difficulties finding a runway.
