April 22, 2003 - The North Pole Challenge team has continued through Easter on their quest towards the North Pole. Their current position is latitude 89 53 05.2 and longitude 109.13 23.3. In other words they are approaching the Pole quickly now with only 12,8 km to go. There is a slight northerly wind and the sky is clear and sunny. Difficult to navigate by the sun
They have encountered some leads making progress difficult but the
drift is taking them in the right direction. With such a short distance
left the team will reach the Pole very soon. The closer to the Pole they
get the more difficult it gets to navigate by the sun so by now they are
relying completely on the compass and GPS. | |||||
