Ben Saunders is on his way back to Borneo after
his successful journey to the North Pole. He is taking things more
slowly now and only skied for half a day yesterday going to bed very
early. Nine days of almost constant skiing takes its toll.
The ice has changed and the huge flat pans of ice are gone and replaced
by chaos. Ben says it looked like a bomb had gone off during the night
when he looked out of his tent.
The leads thankfully frozen over
There are plenty of small and large
leads, they have all been frozen over to Ben's great relief. You have to
be very careful where you put your feet when on the Arctic Ice, or mind
the gap as Ben says alluding to the voice heard in the London
Underground. His appetite seems to have returned which is a good
sign. Ben's current position is N89.28.6 E107.28.0 7.4nm. He is
more than halfway back to Borneo and is expecting to get there by Saturday.
