12 year old doing well on Greenland ice cap crossing
May 27, 2005 12: 31 EST
Sjur Mordre is operating Hvitserk Norwegian based company together with a team of Norwegian polar veterans. Sjur has a wide experience from NP/SP/Greenland expeditions, and did the first parasail crossing of Antarctica with his brother Simen Mørdre (aka the legendary Polar "Murder brothers").
The world of extreme exploration is pretty small: Simen is currently in Pakistan, leading a K2 climb, merging the Mørdre brother's skills of lightweight polar travel with modern mountaineering.
Lars getting there Saturday?
On the other side of the planet, Hvitserk are plodding away on the Greenland ice cap - leading the youngest skier there yet - 12 year old Lars! (Image).
The expedition has been out for 7 days now, dispatching over Contact 3.0. They report good weather and -16C. They made 23,58 km today, with 42,3 km to go to day 11. If weather keeps holding up, the guys expect to make it on Saturday.
