Dominick buzz - to do to others...
19:59 p.m. EST Mar 28, 2004
Some mails from the readers:

"It almost seems that this is a good example that politics and business are more important to some people and institutions than a life of a brave woman. You are absolutely right that not her death nor her life is confirmed, however we think that such things does not matter at this point...there is still hope but hope will fade when men`s heart are weak and give up. I think what we are all trying to do is something that we wish that others would do when we were in this situation..." (Raphael Salvi, Switzerland).

And another mail, from a Professor and head MD in Germany: "As long as there is hope and a little chance one cannot give up on Dominique. She is famous in Finland, she has done so much for the country. A huge number of people, me included, have got interested in Laponia through Dominique and went on tour with her, which otherwise we never would have done, at least not in Laponia."

We have also received two mails suggesting that the search should not continue as Dominick was ill prepared and warned about the risks.

To this we have to reply that we all take risks in life, the largest being statistically junk food, sedentary lifestyle, alcohol and driving a car. Far larger percentage of people are killed yearly by any of these volunteer choices than explorers are killed in the polar, mountain or ocean areas combined.

Again we must counter the efforts to blame the victim; Dominick not only took a calculated risk, she was also better prepared than the current expeditions out on the ice, and in fact trained by Cerpolex.

Whether we find her or not, we will forever have to live with our own actions and decisions in a time of choice. The point here being the one from Switzerland; to do to others what we would like them to do to us.
