Not so Fast says the Maidens
18:39 p.m. EDT Sep 4, 2003
Yesterday we dropped the scoop and today we received a nice mail from the ladies, signed Jane:
"We are now 3 women as one of our members resigned - Julie Boros is no longer an Ice Maiden and we are now Sandra, Michele and Jane.
We have postponed our expedition until 2004 and will now go from Hercules Inlet to the South Pole, backtracking from Patriot Hills to start the trek. Just as well we postponed because ANI have cancelled the season this year and we would have been stuck otherwise.
Everything else in the article looks fine, and we are most flattered by your introductory paragraph suggesting that someone might want to pick up one of us "chicks" at the Pole. After 70 days of no showers it would be a brave (or desperate) man who attempted this feat!"
So, sorry guys at the South Pole Bar; you'll have to hold your horses with regards to those Aussie sheilas. But hey, the English roses are still headed your way!
Michele Bloomcamp, Sandra Floate and Jane Yeadon will leave Australia late October 2004 and hopefully be on the ice by November. The journey should last for 60 to 70 days and if successful the Ice Maidens should reach the South Pole by January 2004.
