Polly is down but not out
13:50 p.m. EST Dec 17, 2003
Polly Voucher has made it halfway around the world in her single engine plane; however, she’s been halted from flying across Antarctica due to fuel and logistical issues.
“As you know, Polly is unable to continue her flight across Antarctica as, for logistical reasons, she is unable to secure fuel at Patriot Hills, despite endeavoring to do so.”
So, as a result, Polly is now still in Antarctica at the Marmabio base on the Antarctic Peninsula. Fortunately the Argentinean Air Force is going to get her some fuel down there, enabling her to fly back into South America to resume her flight.
Polly had planned to fly over Antarctica and into New Zealand, but because of the fuel issue she will now fly back up the Americas and cross over to New Zealand from California via the Pacific Ocean.
Polly Voucher is flying a single-engine plane, solo, around the world. She planed to fly over both Poles, and successfully did so over the North. However, logistical problems have halted her from flying over the South. She’s going to reroute her flight to New Zealand via California. Polly started her flight back in May of this year.
