Vinson summits - and a wedding!!
Dec 9, 2004 09: 06 EST
Adventure Consultant have just dispatched the happy news:
“Yes, we did it. Antarctica turned on a beautiful day and we were fortunate enough to all enjoy the vistas on a virtually windless day.
It wasn't an ordinary summit day, today John Rost completed the Seven Summits, a quest we at Adventure Consultants have shared with him over the last 18 months.
A top class wedding!
But wait, there's more! We are happy to announce that Katrina Sandling and Robert Follows were married on the summit of Vinson with Guy Cotter acting as marriage celebrant. We wish Rob and Kat many years of happiness together and hopefully a few more summits along the way!
Other AC summiters include Andy Maluish from Australia and the members of our second AC Vinson expedition led by Luis Benitez. Along with Luis, Annabelle Bond and AC cameraman Hamish Emerson topped out today.”
Annabelle: I was a little emotional
Annabelle Bond wrote: “We left at 10.45am and arrived on the summit at 6pm. I was a little emotional on the summit much to Hamish's delight as he captured it all on camera! Andronicos sister Gabriella became the first chilean woman to summit Vinson. We are now at camp 3 and heading to base camp tomorrow (today, EST time).”
Alpine Ascents team summited as well, and they’ll be descending the headwall today.
