Driving in the Arctic: Ladies and gentlemen start your... MINI?
Feb 10, 2005 09: 18 EST
The MINI car craze has created a subculture of drivers who devote their precious time, energy, and love to their favorite automobiles (MINI drivers have also been known to wave and nod to other MINI drivers on the road). And now, with the Hudson Bay or Bust Midwinter Arctic Run, the popular car even has its own annual car run.
Hudson Bay or Bust
Now in its second year, the MINI run has grown in popularity. People from all over the country are said to be participating in the run. The driving route begins outside NYC in Suffern, New York and goes up through Canada along the James Bay road to Chisasibi, a small town on the very edge of Hudson Bay. Anyone with a MINI is allowed to participate. If you have a MINI and four or five free days this month, sign up at the site. Just remember to dress warm and bring some good music. It’s a long, cold drive!
The second annual Hudson Bay or Bust Midwinter Mini Arctic Run goes from February 18-22. The Suffern, NY to Chisasibi route is around 1200 miles (2400 round trip) of some of the most beautiful scenery in North America. The route also allows drivers to see authentic Canadian Indian towns along the way. Visit the MINI run website for more details.
