Read all about what's hot and what's not, in this 2004 Antarctic season (note that resupply plans can change once on the ice):
The boldest (and longest) expedition - Kites on Ice! 2200 km without resupplies!
A not-so long traverse, 1600 km: The Invesco Perpetual Challenge - starting point at Axel Heibergs glacier - 500 km from the South Pole - is half of the distance compared to the others Hercules Inlet starting point.
Resupplies at the Pole thus just about equal the normal distance resupply point of Thiel mountains. The expedition - although fun with Landrovers and all - is neither unsupported, nor a full traverse.
The only unsupported (no kites - no resupplies) - Ice Maidens, still stuck in Punta. Veil of Ice is a Go - others are not, and several interesting scientific projects!
It's all at the new South Pole expeditions list. Go check!
