The world's call for Dominick
20:06 p.m. EST Apr 18, 2004
Published March 25, 04.
Many, many mails have reached ExplorersWeb offices from Finland and around the world today regarding Dominick (yes we know, we should have a board). Here are some of the latest, all unedited but with personal info removed for privacy protection:
"I have been following your news, and that on Dominick's site, on a daily basis. I am overjoyed to hear of this new search effort. I am not a polar adventurer on any level (I am writing from Boston) but after what I have read about the conditions and about Dominick's skill, I am sure that this new search is the right thing to do. This is definitely a person who would seek -- and know how -- to survive. The land team owes her this effort, as she went out with the trust in such support. Good for you and
shame on Cerpolex, even if they turn out to be correct!"
"Hi!
You have got to do something to help Dominick! If I had the money I would myself fund the search flights. She IS still alive, of course she is! If somebody survives an adventure like that, it's Domi.
If she is just left there with no food and no supplies it means one thing and one thing only: MURDER! It's just too early to give up on her. Domi is a survivor, she has a goal and she will reach it.
I am praying every single night that somebody would help our Domi and guarantee that she is still coming home.
Please, I'm begging you, do everything in your power to help and to arrange another flight to the RIGHT area. She is there alone with no food - try to consider how she must feel! HELP HER!
best regards,
Outi

"Hello to the team at Explorers Web and greetings from Finland
I would like to comment on the media coverage regarding the search for Dominick Arduin because this is so heartbreaking!
I have been following this story on several websites and paying particular attention to The Poles.com website... I just can't believe everyone is ready to give up!
If they haven't found any sign of Dominick or her equipment - it doesn't mean she is dead! I believe she is fine, alive and waiting to be found!
How can the media give up?? How can the Finnish people give up! She is a citizen of this country and deserves more help than the Finnish government has been willing to dish out!
What can WE do to convince the Russians to continue the search? Your team illustrated a very good point in that the three expeditions still on the go are drifting in a northeasterly direction. The searchers could have
completely missed her because they are looking in the wrong area! Do the rest of the Finnish media know that? Does the rest of the world know that?
This is not over - not by a long shot!
Sincerely,
Carmen
"Finns hasn’t forget Dominick! But her expeditions has been badly coordinated by Cerpolex and especially her home team (media communication/and other contacts).
Since I heard that these parties hasn’t hear anything from Dom since 6.3 I have search everyday news (any new news) about her! Everyday I have hope that Cerpolex and her so-called home team would come out public with a statement and strong active plan ‘how to find Dom – before it is too late’!
But that kind of activity or news I haven’t see in media in Finland and Dom’s home team either has not use their voices for calling all Finnish help find Dom - for example donating search money? Only news and search suggestions I have read in yours web-site (at last I find you 12.3). And I’m convinced that only way try to search Dom is use these people professional skills how have travel in the same weather conditions in the pole – such like you!
Like you yesterday point Dom could have continue her ski! I am very much afraid that the reason why authority in Finland and Russia stop her searching is because their horror scenario is now that Dom has however live through these passive search days and finally lost her life because the searching was too slow and unskilled made. Authority in Finland or Russia do not want to tell this kind of story to people.
I thank you for my heart all your help and invest to activate media, authorities Finland and Russia and also Dom’s home team - not given up try to find Dom! Please continue your writing!"
Yours sincerely
Jaana

"Since writing to you earlier i have also written to various tv news outlets...Cnn, and several canadian ones... imploring them to find out why nothing is being done... to stir the pot... to let the world know what is
happening or rather not happening and how urgent it is.
I have also emailed the prime minister of Canada and begged him to get involved. We have the expertise with the Canadian Search and Rescue and with the
Calgary firm, Kenn Borek Air Ltd, who's courageous pilots rescued the doctor from the south pole not long ago.
If Canadians were aware of what is happening I am sure they would want to help.
Perhaps you could create a forum of some sort that would have links for people who want to get the word out and want to try and influence the media and the leaders of nations to help.
It is in all nations interest to lend a hand but especially the northern nations and those nations whose countrymen and women are also trekking to the pole.
They share their journeys with us.. their courage, their determination, their failures, their hopes, their perserverance, their dreams... they allow us to see their frailties... they give us a shining example of how to tackle
our own challenges.....the world needs people like Dominick Arduin.. and we all should lend a hand.
Please do what you can to allow us to support the Finns who think everyone has given up and put up email addresses of the Finnish leaders and the Canadian prime minister and others who could make something happen.
Encourage others to contact the media...especially the powerful CNN.. post their email address and encourage everyone to contact them."
Thank you
Marjo
"Hei Suomesta! I am very, very concerned about Dominick`s situation. This can not end this way. can we, well-beeing Finns sleep in peace,if we give up now...If we now give in, I think we are losers...Dominick`s nearest are tired, and now we must help them.
I thought, we should ask financial help from Teemu Selänne, for example. I think, he is very sympathic and understands this very difficult situation. Can you get any information for him? I am also trying. There is still much hope, we must think positively!!!
My children likes Moomin characters and I feel that Dominick is like "Pikku Myy", who is very small, but also very gutsy.. a real adventurer. Many times
the others think, that she is gone, but no, she is that kind of girl, who fights!!!!!!"
"Thank you,
Thank you for your efforts on keeping the hope alive for Dom. Dominick is one of the people I admire the most on this earth. I've been folowing her career since
the day I first heard about this tough french girl who moved to Lappland and guided MTB-safaris etc. She allways strikes me as an amazing outdoors woman from whom we can all learn a lot. I can't help but to admire her determination and positivity.
And I refuse to join the finnish tabloids when they say "Farewell Dominick". There's still hope and at the moment it seems to me that thepoles.com is the only media keeping up that hope. Thank you for that - I just wish that someone out there with the possibilities to conduct the search listens to you and goes out there. Soon it's too late, but not yet. The chances of finding Dominick alive are getting slight, but Dominick if anyone deserves that chance!!
Thank you for keeping up the hope!!
Juha, Finland"
